Dr. Ronald Tutrone currently serves as National Director of Clinical Research of United Urology. He also serves as Medical Director of Chesapeake Urology Research Associates, a member of United Urology’s affiliates. Dr. Tutrone also is a member of United Urology’s Executive Clinical Team. As National Director of Clinical Research, Dr. Tutrone oversees the research programs of all United Urology’s group practices and is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring clinical studies in the treatment of urological diseases, and ensuring the welfare of patients who participate in clinical trials.
Dr. Tutrone facilitates and oversees the conduct of Investigator Initiated Trials, and is responsible for all regulatory requirements, guidelines and medical standards to ensure safe and reliable clinical trials, and for ensuring compliance with FDA administrative and clinical trial guidelines. He has been a principal investigator for more than 200 Phase I, II, and III clinical trials and has written several investigator-initiated protocols.
Dr. Tutrone serves as Chief, Division of Urology, Greater Baltimore Medical Center, where he was honored with the 2014 Greater Baltimore Medical Center 50th Anniversary Physician Titans of Care award and he is Chairman of the William E. Kalhert Endowment for Urological Research. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Rutgers University Medical School and his general surgery and urology training at Harvard Medical School Urology Program – Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Certified by the American Board of Urology, he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Certified Principal Investigator. He has been voted a “Top Doctor” by Baltimore magazine 10 times and a “Super Doctor” for Urology in the Washington Post Magazine Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, and Baltimore.
